CINDERS & SPARROWS - The Great Halloween Witch Box Giveaway
So, Cinders & Sparrows is out in paperback in the US today, AND I just discovered it was chosen as a Bank Street Best Book of the Year. In celebration of that, and the fact that it’s October, and Halloween is right around the corner, and also to say thank you to all of you who have read and enjoyed Cinders this past year, I’m doing a big ol’ giveaway on Twitter!
Last year, shortly after Cinders first hit shelves, it was picked for a big book subscription box called OwlCrate Jr. The box contained a spookily-illustrated magazine, a key-chain, a puzzle, and a bookmark, and I thought the idea of a box of physical items that kind of embellished the world of a book was the coolest thing ever.
So inspired by that, I put together my own box of things pertaining to Cinders and Sparrows, a sort of handy survival kit that one might need for going away to one’s own haunted castle in the mountains.
Included in the box are:
A one-of-a-kind, handcrafted guide to surviving Blackbird Castle, including never-before-seen pages, illustrations, marbled end-papers, lace page edges, and a bookmark ribbon hung with wondrous accoutrements and a tiny bottle of herbs.
A feather quill for writing secret thoughts, including multiple filigree tips and ink!
A custom autumnal candle that smells absolutely divinely of lavender and white tea.
A Vikers mug, named after Zita’s imperious pet crow.
A box of lemon lavender tea for cozy hours of reading in a secret library.
An antique key scavenged from a flea market in Holland. (It’s not quite like Zita’s silver skeleton key that will open any door, but still very pretty.)
A signed hardcover of Cinders & Sparrows WITH BLACK-SPRAYED EDGES. (Which I totally did myself, and which was an adventure that you have already seen if you follow me on Instagram.)
Putting together this box was so much fun, and I would have DIED for this as a kid, so I’m hoping it goes to someone equally enthusiastic about all things spooky and magical, or someone who particularly loved the book. If you’d like to win it do head over to Twitter and enter! The giveaway will run until October 31st, midnight EST.
