Stefan Bachmann was born in Colorado and spent most of his childhood in Switzerland, where he graduated from the Zürich University of Arts with degrees in music composition and theory. He is the author of several books including The Peculiar, his debut, which was published to international acclaim when he was nineteen years old.
I play five instruments, some very badly. I grew up in a large old house next to a forest. I lived in Prague for a while, and Tokyo, and now I live in Zürich and Berlin. I was once lashed by a stingray in Greece and still have bits of its tail in my back. My first job in high-school was a funeral musician. (Being a funeral musician is vastly preferable to being a wedding musician. Just . . . in case you were wondering.) I like movies, books, weird music, traveling, art, trees, mountains, cold weather, and chocolate.
